제 51회 그래미 어워드 노미네이션

그래미 점점 마음에 든다. 몇년전만 해도 초딩 운동회 느낌이었는데. 미국적 전통에 기반한 보수성이 느껴지긴 하지만 구리다고 하기에는 완성도 높은 음악이라 문제의 여지가 없다. 2007년의 음악이 주요부문에 오른 것이 뒷북스럽다할지라도 역시 좋은 음악이라 봐줄만. 주요 4개 부문은 누가 타도 관계없을 정도로 쟁쟁하다. 70년대, 90년대, 2000년대 영국의 대표로커들과 미국 힙합 뮤지션이 배치된 올해의 앨범이 제일 흥미로우며 Mia와 Adele이 로버트 플랜트와 콜드플레이 사이에 배치된 올해의 레코드도 재밌으며 팝계의 젊은 피 아델과 더피가 배치된 신인 부문도 흥미롭다. 올해의 노래 부문엔 한국인이 사랑하는 므라즈의 노래도 있다. 벡, 데스 캡 포 큐티, 날스 바클리, 마이 모닝 자켓, 라디오헤드라는 전혀 닮지 않은 뮤지션들이 있는 얼터너티브 부문은 이 시대의 새로운 대안을 말하는 것 같은 의미심장한 노미니라고 할 수 있는 반면 메탈리카, 콜드플레이, Raconteurs, Kings of Leon, Kid Rock이 배치는 올해의 록 앨범은 록의 정통성으로 접근하려는 최근의 또 다른 트랜드를 볼 수 있으며 다프트 펑크와 마돈나에 핫칩의 이름이 있는 올해의 댄스 부문도 진화하는 댄스의 한 양상을 볼 수 있다. 아무튼 조금 심심하다 싶었던 2008년의 팝/록계와 달리 그래미는 참 재밌게 느껴진다.
